Laura In India

If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India.

Dharmasala

After driving a tank and lunch we hit the road again... Oh side track joke about Indian drivers...

So the Pope, a Holy Man and an Indian Taxi driver die and arrive at the St. Peter's Gates and St.Peter asks the Pope what have you done to support God's work. The Pope (similar answer for the Holy Man for the sake of my fingers) responded that he had dedicated his life to God and spreading the word of the Lord. St.Peter says excellent and assigned them to the St.Peter's apartment complex. The Indian Taxi Driver approaches and says that he has tried to live his life according to God's Laws. St.Peter says excellent and assigns him to a Golden Palace. The Pope and the Holy Man see this and complain to St.Peter "How can you send this Taxi Driver to such a place when we are going to just the apartment complex?" St. Peter responds "Yes, you both have done great work but this taxi driver has put the fear of God in more people than the both of you combined!"

I swear we had the re-incarnation of this guy in the joke... seriously you would never know you are suppose to drive on the left... at one point we were literally driving head on into a truck... luckily our driver is very good and Muna Muma (Aditi's Uncle) told him to drive more cautiously because you are scaring the crap out of the "girls".

So after the crazy driver journey we met up with Kira Massi and Tony Masser (Aditi's like Aunt and Uncle) and they took us to their home... literally in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas (Dani their garden is so amazing, they have limes, and every spice, and the most beautiful flowers... Kira Massi actually grows their own wheat too!)

Today we went to the Dali Lama Temple did some Dharmasala shopping. It looks like we will not be able to see the Dali Lama but we saw his temple and turned the prayer cylinders. We saw many Monks too. We are going back tomorrow (we will be checking every day till Friday it the Dali Lama decided to have a public audience they will anounce it the day before.

It's it so amazingly peaceful and SO quiet... I love it here... I can't wait to retire here!

I'm working on the prayer flags... When we went up to the temple all the shops were closed for a Tibetian protest/holiday. We are going up tomorrow so I will look into it.
